Hey everyone! My name is Brittanie, but most call me Britt! I'm a small town girl from southwest Michigan. I am obsessed with make up, and doing different things with my hair. After high school, I traveled & lived in the south & realized I have some southern roots in me, which I love! I plan on going to beauty school early next year, and following my dreams! I would love to move to LA one day & hopefully be an MUA for someone famous! Dream big! I hope that you all like what you read! :)
SD: What's your favorite part about being Damsel of the Week?
Brittanie: Being chosen was amazing! Thank you! My favorite would have to be the fact that girls get to know me on a personal level & hopefully some can relate!
SD: Is there a fashion trend that you wish would come back?
Brittanie: I've always been a fan of anything with a soft lace & bell bottom jeans. They remind me of the 70's era, which I love. Everything seems to be making a comeback, so I wouldn't be upset if that was one!
SD: What is your go-to outfit?
Brittanie: I have a favorite white t-shirt that I love to wear, with a different colored loose button down over it, black leggings and some cute ankle boots.
SD: Lets say we gave you a olive green military jacket, how do you style it?
Brittanie: I have a really cute striped black & white dress (above the knee) that would look adorable under it, maybe some black combat boots. I always love a good edgy look.
SD: What was your biggest fashion Foe?
Brittanie: I started experimenting with make up when I was a freshman in high school, like crazy colors on my lids. I got compliments all the time, but looking back, I wish someone would have told me to stop lol.
SD: If you could describe your style in one word what would it be?
SD: You're obviously insanely fit! What keeps you on track and motivated?
Brittanie: Thank you! Trying to be "fit" has honestly been such a struggle for me the last year. I just recently went through a bad break up, and that's honestly given me a lot of my motivation. Being on track with a healthy lifestyle is not easy, but like anything, it's important to have positive people in your life who will push you to your full potential & pick you up when you're down. After becoming single, I now have that. Working out is such a stress reliever for me, and when I leave the gym, I feel great about what I just did! I have to remind myself every day of my goals & what I want. It's not just a habit, it's a lifestyle.
SD: What is something in your closet that you could never get rid of?
Brittanie: I have this one long tan sweater that I wear a lot around the house, it's super comfy, I wore it to work the other day & someone told me that it looked like a Mr. Rogers sweater lol i still like it, it's my favorite, can't go wrong with comfortable!
SD: What is a beauty routine staple that you have to do everyday?
Brittanie: I always make sure I moisturize. No matter what. I don't wear make up every day, but I do make sure I moisturize my face & neck!
SD: What's something you have no problem splurging on?
Brittanie: Make up!
SD: What do you think got you the most interested in doing makeup?
Brittanie: Growing up, I did pageants & so make up & hair just became second nature to me. I loved all the different ways you could experiment with make up.
SD: Are their any fun stories that come with being in pageants?
Brittanie: During the pageant, everything is so spur of the moment! Everything is live, so whatever happens, you just have to go with the flow. I remember during one pageant, I was back stage talking to the MC about to go on stage for Top 5, and as he was talking he just fell right over, right on his face. He just passed out. All of us girls started screaming! We were terrified. He had just passed out from the lights, he was over heated, and thank God he was okay! Very scary moment.
SD: Any advise for girls looking to get into pageants/How did you get into the pageant world?
Brittanie: I did my first pageant when I was 5, my mom entered me in it. Back then, I had no idea what I was doing or the purpose of it. Looking back, pageants have taught me so much. If I had to give any advice, I would say GO FOR IT. Pageants have taught me so much. Poise, social skills, speaking skills, just how to present yourself in a social setting. It's always so important to be yourself. That's all it's about. When you're on stage, your confidence will shine through & it's such an amazing feeling!
SD: How is it so easy for you to go from heels to boots in a matter of hours/ minutes?
Brittanie: For me, being in heels just gives me this certain confidence. I love walking with my head held high, and strutting my stuff. Most days, I like being low key, in my boots & a t-shirt. So comfy & casual.
